Zamalek wants to sell goalkeeper El-Shenawy

International goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy has been excluded from Zamalek s squad for the coming season and put up for sale.

"No more Shenawy in Zamalek. It was him who showed interest in leaving and we are putting him on sale," the Cairo club s football director Amir Mortada stated to local TV on Wednesday.

The Egypt goalie, who has been linked with a move to cash-splashing club Pyramids, joined Zamalek in 2014 on a permanent deal from Port Said-based club Masry and has been the Whites  first-choice keeper ever since.

Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour earlier said that he wanted to sell him for US$ 3 million ( EGP 53,628,000).

El-Shenawy was the Egyptian national team s first-choice in the African Cup of Nations last year, but picked up an injury in the starting game and was replaced with 44-year-old custodian Essam El-Hadary, who went on to play an instrumental role in lifting the team to the final in Gabon.

Another severe injury ruled out El-Shenawy of the 2018 World Cup, in which Egypt lost all their three games.
