EFA approves Pyramids request for foreign officials in Egyptian league Ahly clash

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has assigned Serbian officials for the Egyptian Premier League encounter on Friday between Pyramids and Ahly at the 30 June Stadium, the EFA announced on Thursday.

Danilo Grujic will lead the Serbian crew of Milovan Ristic, Dalibor Gorgevic and Nenad Djokic.
 
This will be the third time foriegn officials would officiate Pyramids  league games this season per the team s request after the club continues to complain of inconsistencies committed by Egyptian officials.
Foreign officials had referreed the teams  recent games against Arab Contractors and Enppi.
 
Pyramids will foot the bill for the foreign officials  assignment, per the league s by-laws.
 
Since a takeover by former Saudi sports minister Turki al-Sheikh last summer, Pyramids has splashed cash to build a formidable squad that can compete for the league s trophy against the league s historic dominant clubs Ahly and Zamalek.
 
The formerly known Assiouty Sport flexed their financial muscles in signing more than 20 well-known players, breaking all the domestic transfer records with the Keno deal alone costing a reported fee of $10 million (EGP 180 million). 
 
The club is currently coached by Egypt s iconic striker Hossam Hassan.  
 
The anticipated game, which will be played behind closed doors, is a rearranged one from gameweek 8 of the Egyptian Premier League.
 
The game may see the participation of a number of both teams  new January signings.
 
Ahly s newly appointed tactician Martin Lasarte will be leading the team from the bench for the first time in Friday s clash.
 
Pyramids are currently second in the league table with 30 points, 8 adrift of leaders Zamalek.
 
Both Zamalek and Pyramids have played 3 games more than Ahly who sit 6th with 24 points.
