MCN, Middle East Christian news agency, the first news agency specialized in Christian news in the Middle East launches today. It presents news in two languages: Arabic (www.mcnarabic.com) and English (www.mcndirect.com).
It aims at filling the vacuum in news coverage of Christians in the Middle East, caused by the majority of local and international media ignoring this kind of news. While local media does so according to the desires of the authorities, the international ones focus mainly on the regional conflicts, MCN announced.
The agency said it is not linked to any organization whether religious, secular, local, regional or international, that’s why it will rely, such as other agencies, on subscriptions for receiving the service, which will be limited to its subscribers, and will not publish articles or comments like other websites.
Dr. William Weessa, MCN editor-in-chief who worked in many positions in the international media, such as head of the Arabic department in Radio France, he is also the founder and the head of the Arabic section in Euro News says, “It a dream that we all had for a long time. Our teams here in the US, Egypt and the Middle East region are working since November 2011 in preparation for this day”.
Coptic and Middle East Christians now have for the first time a professional news agency with a large team of editors and reporters in Egypt and the Middle East.
MCN is in its "infancy", The Arabic interface service is more advanced for the moment than the English service, we seeking to deepen its roots with a team that will be expanding over time, said Weessa
