School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, American University in Cairo held a Workshop in Minya on “the role of media in covering the electoral process” on March 21 and 22.
The workshop was instructed by Osama Kamel, trainer and international expert of elections. He talked about media types and their role in the elections, the electoral cycle, media freedom, the importance of educating voters, rules of media conduct during the elections, the legal framework of the Egyptian elections, the importance of presidential elections coverage, and the importance of paying equal interest for candidates and voting procedures, as well as counting and announcing the results.
Dina Wafa, manager of high leadership training program at School of Global Affairs and Public Policy said that this training program which began after the revolution of January 25 targets free and fair elections. She added that they have held many workshops on election monitoring and the role of women in Cairo, Assiut, Alexandria, and Minya.
