The Interior Ministry has refused the Egyptian Football Association's petition to resume the league and cup football championships for 2012/13, which were slated to resume on 24 August, the association said on its official website on Sunday.
“This means losses of millions of pounds in addition to the negative effects on the future of football in Egypt,” said association spokesman Azmy Megahed.
A security source said the ministry refused the petition because its request that cameras and metal detectors be installed in all stadiums was not implemented.
