Prosecution heard statements by Gamal Mubarak, son of the former president Hosni Mubarak, on Monday regarding his appeal of a report by the chief medical examiner treating his father, said Major General Mohamed Naguib, the deputy interior minister for prisons.
The report stated that Mubarak’s health improved during his stay in Maadi military hospital, which lead to his transfer to Tora prison hospital.
“The chief medical examiner was not following on my father’s health. He doesn’t know about his history,” Gamal Mubarak said.
He also submitted a complaint to officer of Tora prison, where he is imprisoned, demanding his father be returned to Maadi military hospital, citing health deterioration. The officer referred the complaint to prosecution.
Regarding the former president’s health, Naguib said his state of health is stable and that it’s being checked like any other prisoner. He added that the medical team following his case submits a daily report on his health to interior minister in accordance to a decision by Public Prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud to provide him with adequate health care.
“According to medical reports, he (Mubarak) sometimes feels shortness of breath. His psychological condition is poor, especially after his transfer from the military hospital. Doctors face difficulties dealing with him and giving him medicine, which led to transferring his son Gamal to stay with him,” Naguib said.
