Ahly coach pleased, Zamalek coach feels unlucky, after Cairo derby

Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Youssef says his team was not lucky in their two CAF Champions League group stage rounds, finding themselves now at the bottom of Group B with no points.“We have lost six points, but we haven’t lost hope yet. We still have 12 points to play for. I believe we didn’t deserve to lose. We were extremely unlucky in both games (Against Berekum Chelsea and Ahly),” Youssef told CAF official website.

“We played well against Ahly but failed to convert our chances into goals. That also accounted for our defeat. We played with the only available players due to injuries and suspensions of some key players. Our next game against TP Mazembe is vital and we have to win to revive our hopes”.

In the other camp, Ahly manager Hossam El-Badry expressed delight at being the leaders of the group after two successive victories, over Zamalek and TP Mazembe.

“I am very happy with this vital victory. We are sitting at the top of the group, but we haven’t qualified yet. " El-Badry said.

“Our next game is against Berekum Chelsea and it will be a key game in terms of whether we qualify for the semi-finals. My players played to instructions at halftime and it was reflected in our dominance in the second half. We will play all the games to win.”
