ElBaradei: Constitution Party to form election coalition

The liberal Constitution Party will form a coalition with other parties at the next parliamentary election, party founder Mohamed ElBaradei said Tuesday.

Elections are slated for one month after a constitution is approved by a national referendum.

ElBaradei did not specify which parties would join the coalition but added that the party aimed to unite political groups rather than compete with them.

"Tahrir Square has become a pressure tool but we need to move into politics," added ElBaradei, who is a former head of the International Atomic Energy Agency and was a prominent figure in the January 25 Revolution.

The party's ideology is to seek social justice for all Egyptians, he noted.

ElBaradei was speaking at a party meeting.

The Constitution Party was launched by liberal activists in April 2012 but it is yet to be officially registered.  The party aims to unite Egyptian regardless of their ideology.
