Police investigate fire at Brampton church

Peel police believe a firebomb may have caused a fire at the Coptic Orthodox Church of Archangel Michael & St. Tekla in Brampton on Friday morning.

Fire fighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which cause some smoke and water damage to the church. The damage was minor, police said.

It began around 4 a.m. on Hurontario Street north of Mayfield Road.

There's no word on suspects.

Earlier this year, police investigated after firefighters found what was thought to be a pipe bomb on the floor of St. Jerome’s Catholic church in Brampton.

No arrests have been made in the May fire.
