"Al-Ahrar" opposition party is facing a lot of chronic problems concerning the conflict over leadership and the finance issues.
Mahmoud Elsakhry – the vice chairman of the party – has filed a lawsuit to challenge the decision of political parties' affairs committee, which had approved Helmy Salem as a chairman of "Al-Ahrar" party. Elsakhry's lawsuit based on – what he said – an illegal general conference for the party, which brought Salem to presidency three years ago.
On the other hand "Al-Ahrar" daily newspaper is facing financial problems that can threat its existence; the journalists there are waiting now for a decision from the party's leaders to close the newspaper because of consecutive losses and a decline in sales. It was said that the newspaper is selling less than 300 hard copies daily.
There is no advertisements published in the newspaper, and the marketing team there is facing a problem to find solutions for financial crisis or to convince advertisers to publish their ads.
The journalists is trying now to work on alternative newspapers, because of
Financial conditions, which made the administration, delayed their salaries.
It is worth mentioning, that "Al-Ahrar" newspaper was published regularly in the last three decades, and it had the best times when the well – known late writer Mahmoud Awad was there as a chief Editor.
