Statement on Professor Demiana of Abdel Nour
Statement on Professor Demiana of Abdel Nour
We, the signatories of this statement and Egyptian human rights bodies residing abroad expressing great dismay and intense anger of what Professor Demiana of Abdel Nour is exposed and suffering.
Demiana is a 24-year-old social studies teacher in a Schools village Nag Sultan in Luxor. She is facing a blatant abuse and persecution by Luxor on behalf of false charges against her by some parents of a classroom school students in which she works.
We would like to note the following:
• Professor Demiana Abdel Nour has been designated by the school in January 2013 in recognition of academic excellence and good appearance and behavior.
• semester class that came with the problem is about forty students, three of whom came with the complaint with conflicting statements. That lead to ask many questions. While the rest of the students (47) testified in favor of the teacher, but their testimonies in front of Luxor's congressional seat were not taken by the prosecutors.
• She has to be released, Ms. Demiana under residence and ensure her place of work rather than persist in humiliate and try to destroy morale at the beginning of her career.
• No felony or physical damage at all that has been directed to her of charges, to be the right decision of confinement in jail.
• We would also like to point out that, Who have sweared and offended the Christian religion and burned the Holy Bible in the Egyptian street in front of the cameras and just a few steps from the police is not locked up one day !, as well as the perpetrators of the attack on the cathedral of St. Mark Abbasia last month.
• The behavior on behalf of Luxor calls to many of questions and to stir up sedition because the lack of justice in a time of need our interdependence and Egypt reunion.
• We strongly reject Copts abuse from time to time giving the impression to the principle of sorting between the sons of one homeland and trying to humiliate the other.
• We affirm that there is no single Christian in the land of Egypt disdains religion of Islam, while there are dozens of Islamic extremists who despise the Christian religion and protected under the name of an Islamic preacher.
• The Amnesty International and other human rights organizations at home and abroad have issued statements consolidate the professor Demiana Abdel Nour and denounced acts on behalf of Luxor arbitrary behaviour. Nosteps have been taken by Justice department and officials in the Egyptian government so far which giving the impression of complicity and the persistent persecution of Copts specifically, and the Egyptians marginalized in general.
• the failure to respond to the humanitarian appeals to resolve the problems calls to resort to international forums which do not benefit Egypt's reputation internationally, which reached the highest degree of regression in the field of human rights.
• The decision to extend the confinement of fifteen days without any doubt is unjust decision in form and substance because Ms. Demiana does not pose a threat to public security in the village while the prosecutors' decision and in addressing things excite public opinion locally and internationally and harm to the reputation of Egypt all in all over the world.
We look forward and ask officials intervention to resolve this problem in the next few hours to save the homeland security internally and externally reputation.
