The Qatari Foreign Affairs issued an apology Tuesday to the Egyptian authorities after Qatari diplomat Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Hajri was arrested for the possession of cannabis, Youm7 reported.
Al-Hajri was arrested during the termination of the airport entry procedures in Cairo.
Relations between the Gulf state and Egypt have been frigid since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
In 2013, Egypt returned $2 billion that Qatar had deposited, Central Bank Governor Hisham Ramez announced.
