IMF delegation to visit Egypt in two weeks

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will visit Egypt by the middle of September, Chris Jarvis, the mission chief for Egypt told the state-owned news agency MENA on Thursday.

Jarvis, who is an Advisor at the International Monetary Fund’s Middle East and Asia, said that the visit will aim at holding talks with senior government officials regarding the latest economic developments.

"Egypt adopted a good economic reform plan and started implementing key measures that rationalise the energy subsidy system," Jarvis said.

Egypt excepts a growth rate to be up from 4.2 percent to 5 percent this fiscal year.

Egypt’s share in global trade has declined over the past five years because of political instability but it is showing signs of recovery, according to an IMF report issued in February.
