Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi’s meeting with Al-Azhar’ Grand Imam Ahmed Al-Tayeb will end the current tension between the Islamic institution and Endowment Ministry during the coming period, said Islamic Research Academy’s member Mohamed Al-Gendy.
A state of tension dominated the relation between Azhar and Endowment Ministry over Azhar’s rejection to the governmental decision to force the preachers to read sermons prepared by the ministry during Friday Prayers.
He added, in a statement to Youm7, that such a meeting comes to underline the major role performed by Azhar to reform the religious discourse.
