Cabinet has approved a draft law to harshen the penalty of committing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM,) considering the act as a felony instead of misdemeanor, Deputy Health Minister Maysa Shawky.
Shawky told Youm7 that a governmental program has managed to reduce the rate of the practice in the age brackets (15-49 years) to 92 percent.
