Egypt's cabinet sets Eid Al Adha holiday for government, public sector workers

Public workers will have five days off Sunday through Thursday for the Islamic Eid Al-Adha holiday, Egypt's cabinet announced Tuesday.

According to the statement, employees in ministries, governmental authorities, and other state-owned bodies will take the five days off work for the holiday ending on Thursday 15th of September.

However, other employees in parts of the public sector will take only four days off work for the holiday ending on Wednesday September 14th.

Central Bank of Egypt announced in a statement on Tuesday that the Eid holiday for banking employees will start from Sunday 11 to Tuesday September 13.

Eid Al-Adha, which lasts for four days, will begin on Monday 12 September, with the Day of Arafah falling on Sunday 11 September.

Eid Al-Adha, or the Grand Feast, is one of the two most important religious holidays observed by Muslims worldwide.

The Day of Arafah marks the second day of Hajj pilgrimage at the holy site of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.
