Egypts interior minister opens new special forces training institute
Egypt s Minister of Interior Magdy Abdel-Ghaffar opened a new special forces training institute in the Cairo suburbs on Monday, which aims at improving the tactical and combat capabilities of units.
 
Located on the Cairo-Alexandria desert highway, the institute was built over 72 feddans and can fit up to 1,450 personnel for training courses. The faciltiy also includes residential units.
 
The new institute offers an eight-month period accredited certificate for the ranks of lieutenant colonel and major.
 
It also offers both short and longer training courses for police personnel on urban combat, island raids, sniping, and dealing with explosives.
 
The opening featured parades by students from the police academy, including female deputies from different governorates.
