Morsi's former assistant Morqos 'humiliated' at way passport confiscated

Samir Morcos, President Mohamed Morsi's former assistant who resigned last November, criticised the way officers treated him in Cairo's international airport and the way his diplomatic passport was confiscated, saying the experience was "very humiliating."

Sources at Cairo airport said the passport control department confiscated Morcos's passport upon his return from Tunisia on Friday evening because it was no langer valid.

Morcos, one of two Copts who served on the president's team, handed in his resignation on Novermber 23 in protest at the now-annulled constitutional declaration issued on November 22 which widened Morsi's powers, placing his decisions above judicial review.

Morcos explained in a telephone call to Al-Soura Al-Kamla ('The complete picture') programme on ONTV channel that he was never informed whether his resignation was accepted or not.

He explained this lack of reply is what led him to continue using the diplomatic passport.
