Brotherhood says it is unified; denies young members are angry

The Muslim Brotherhood has denied that its young members are angry at the group for letting them confront clashes in Moqattam and outside the presidential palace.

The Al-Ahram Arabic portal had quoted a source within the group as saying the group Shura Council in a meeting Wednesday told the Guidance Bureau that the young members are discontent.

However, Walid Shalaby, media adviser to the group’s supreme guide, denied that such a meeting took place, saying this is an attempt to tarnish the group’s reputation, and calling on the media to reveal their sources.

“We are a unified group,” he said.

The clashes in Moqattam ensued earlier this month during protests at the Brotherhood headquarters in the neighborhood. Protesters accused Brotherhood members of attacking activists and journalists at a previous demonstration.
