Abba Hedra, Bishop of Aswan, ordained two new priests on the church of Archangel Michael in Aswan, namely Father Girigs Israel adn Father Athnasious Murice. The ordination was attended by Abba Bemen, Bishop of Naqada and Qus, Abba Youacim, General Bishop of Esna.

Abdulhamid Haggan, governor of Qena, received a church delegation in Qena to offer condolences for victims of recent terrorist attack against a mosque in Arish. The delegation was headed by Abba Sharobim, bishop of Qena and denounced the bloody terrorist attack. The governor assured that such terrorist attacks will only increase our unity and support to the government.

The Bible House in Luxor organized a festival entitled In His image at the monastery of St. George in Rizeigat under the auspices of the papal commission, which supervises the monastery. The festival started on November 12 and includes talent show of singing, acting, poetry, and painting, in addition to a biblical competetion distributed to the visitors.

A church delegation visited the Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar on Wednesday in Luxor to offer condolences for the death of his mother in law. Coptic Church in Qus and Nakada participated in a symposium on terrorism and the fight against extremism that was held at Qus Culture Palace. The symposium discussed ways to fight terrorism and extremism and how to find realistic solutions to that problem. It was attended by a number of senior officials and clergy in Qus.

Security forces in Qena have taken extra security measures to secure the churches today after several terrorist attacks.

Major-General Salah Hassan, director of security in Qena, visited several churches to check on the security procedures taken at the church. Extra security measures have been taken at fitr feast to secure churches in case of emergency.

Coptic Orthodox and Catholic churches participated in "Qena against Terrorism" Conference held in Qena under the patronage of Major General Abdel Hamid El-Hagan, Governor of Qena, Dr. Abbas Mansour, President of South Valley University, and in the presence of Dr. Abbas Shoman, Deputy of Al-Azhar Sheikh.
