The Coptic Orthodox Church is commemorating the Opening of the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abassia in 1968. Bishop Demetrius of Malloy, Ansna and Ashmounin, promoted Father Hedra Tawfik to the rank of Hegumin on the occasion of the silver jubilee of his ordination a priest. The promotion occurred at St. Mary and St. Joseph in Mallawi in the presence of its clergy and congregation.

The Church of the Virgin Mary in Zeitoun holds its celebrations of the 51st anniversary of the Virgin Mary’s Apparition in her church on April 2, 1968. During celebrating the Holy Mass, Bishop Eklimindos of Almaza, Ezbet El Haggana and East Nasr City, ordained 61 deacons in the rank of Oghnostus.

The Coptic Orthodox Church announced that Pope Tawadros II has delegated Bisohp Aklimandes, the general bishop, to attend the celebrations of the national day of Greece. The general bishop of Almaza and Nasr City has traveled to Greece to attend the celebrations on behalf of Pope TAwadros.

Abba Pachom, Bishop of Suhag, ordained two new priests at the Cathedral of St. George in Suhag. Deacon Walid Kamal was called Father Domadious, and deacon Talaat Samy was called Father Wissa. The ordination ceremony was attended by Bishop Ologious, head of St. Shenouda monastery in Suhag.
