Two weeks ago, the Somali Islamist group al Shabaab stormed a shopping mall in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, brutally killing 67 people including children just for not being a Muslim or for being a Muslim who doesn’t know the name of Prophet Mohamed’s mother! They did such terrible crime in the name of Islam and calling to apply the Islamic Sharia.
Few days ago, we saw a video of a Syrian rebel cutting out and eating the heart of a dead government soldier in a horrific new propaganda stunt while shouting with his colleagues: “Allah Akbar”. Same slogan we hear while watching Syrian cities bombing as well as killing women and children in cold blood.
Once again, Coptic Christians are killed in Egypt, just for a cross drawn on the walls of an Islamic school in Khosous, where some Copts were killed and their houses of worship and properties were attacked under the nose of the police.
Some opponents of MB rule think that the collapse of the Egyptian economy, and state bankruptcy is at hand, which will cause unprecedented chaos and famines all over Egypt. They think that this will lead millions of both angry and hungry people to revolt against the Islamists as well as destroy their headquarters and businesses. However, I myself consider this totally faraway. I think that such chaos and bankruptcy will work in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood, serve their political and economic interests, and enable them to take complete control of Egypt.
President Morsy reminds me of a story about a train driver who suddenly decided not to stop at any station till the last stop. Passengers were beseeching him to stop, but he strongly refused. While he was totally busy insulting the passengers and receiving their insults, he couldn’t see he was approaching the end. So, he couldn’t reduce his speed and crushed at the end killing himself along with many other innocent people.
No one can deny that the new Pope for the Coptic Orthodox Church will take office as head of his church under very difficult and unprecedented circumstances. This comes at the time Muslim Brotherhood and Salafis have reached power and are trying to impose an Islamic constitution and the Islamic Sharia. Furthermore, they prosecute the religious minorities by all means, and sometimes they attack their houses of worship as well as their property, and force them to leave their homes.
It was clear after Mubarak had stepped down that there are internal and external forces that support the Islamists
Since the very beginning of the revolution against Mubarak's regime, it was crystal clear that Field Marshal Tantawy is ready to do anything to please Muslim Brotherhood. He asked them to meet with Omar Suleiman, former vice-president by the time of the revolution, to negotiate their demands. Then, Tantawi choose a number of MB leaders to write the constitutional declaration.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that this week is a defining moment in the modern history of Egypt, as the runoff will be held between Mohammed Mursy and Ahmed Shafik in the presidential elections. It will determine how Egypt will be for many years to come. Egyptians now have two options: First, a civil state where law is respected, all citizens are equal, religious freedom and rights of the minorities as well as women are respected; where science, researches, inventions and production is the way to develop the country. Second, a religious state governed by Mohammed Badie who promised to establish the first Islamic Caliphate in modern Egypt.
While Young people of Egypt were receiving the bullets of policemen in Tahrir Square on January 25, Muslim Brotherhood have received American orders to wait and see what Mubarak was going to do on one hand, and make sure young people could incite the Egyptians as much as they could on the other hand. Two days later, millions of Egyptians had participated in the revolution and hundreds of Egyptians had been already killed, and finally, US ordered MB through their agent in Turkey to participate in the demonstrations.
While Egypt is in a state of collapse, and many Egyptians are bleeding in the streets for no good reason, Islamists are busy dividing the inheritance of Mubarak, participating in sit-ins and demonstrations, as well as inciting killing people
It nauseated me to read this morning in the newspapers a story about one of the Islamic candidates for the presidency, which upon asking him about his platform and why should people vote for him, he answered saying that he had asked scientists and sheiks for setting a schedule for applying the Islamic law!
