The Muslim Brotherhood and the Jama'a al-Islamiya condemned the remarks of Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawy when he described the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, and said the government does not have the jurisdiction to label it as a terrorist organization.
Freedom and Justice Party leading member Ashraf Badr Eddin said that these remarks are “pure fabrication," and Beblawy does not have the power to disband the group. "The group has gained its popularity through history from the people, who are the source of legitimacy," he added.
Jama'a al-Islamiya spokesperson said the remarks “do not make any difference.”
“Accusing the MB or the National alliance to Support Legitimacy of terrorism is void. This is evidenced by the statements of the Interior Ministry, which has not mentioned any involvement by the leaders,” he said.
