Bassem Youssef is scheduled to be the guest of Yousry Foda’s ONTV talk show “Akher Kalam” on Wednesday evening, making it his first appearance since the suspension of his program on the network CBC.
Qsoft, the producer of Youssef’s program, had decided to sue CBC and demand compensation for stopping the program.
Last Tuesday, Youssef received the Free Press Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists in New York. “It is amazing that I receive this award although I am not a journalist,” he said. “I am honored that my name is mentioned with freedom fighters from Turkey, Ecuador and Vietnam.”
Prosecutors had on Saturday conducted investigations with Youssef in charges of breaching public decency and ridiculing the Egyptian army, its leaders, the interim president and the will of the people, in addition to charges of treason.
