SHARQIYA, Nov 12 (Aswat Masriya) – An explosion occurred on the Sharqiya railroad early Wednesday, leaving no injuries behind, a security source said.
The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, said the explosion temporarily halted the railroad traffic on the Zagazig-Mansoura line.
Egypt's security forces have intensified their security measures in reaction to repeated militant attacks that target army and police officials, which rose significantly since the military ouster of former President Mohamed Mursi last year, after mass protests against his rule. The attacks started in the Sinai Peninsula but soon expanded to other areas of the country, including the capital.
Blasts in residential areas are usually carried out using IEDs.
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded in the last cart of a train in the Menuf train station last week, killing four and injuring eight.
