Egypt's military has said it destroyed the house of a "terrorist" in Sinai along with explosive materials stored inside, as the army's crackdown on militants in the restive peninsula continues.
Six men were killed when army forces raided and destroyed the house of Ahmed Salem, according to the Facebook page of military spokesman Mohamed Samir.
He also said that an explosives-loaded pick-up vehicle that was set to target a checkpoint was destroyed in a separate operation Saturday dawn. One suspected terrorist died in the operation.
Hundreds of soldiers and police have been killed in attacks in Egypt over the past year, while the army says it has killed and arrested hundreds of jihadists, mostly in Sinai. Civilians have also been caught in the violence.
