Coptic activists and legal experts differed on what was raised recently about the second marriage and divorce of Copts, between supporters and opponents in this regard.
Isaac Abraham, researcher and activist, said that the problem of the second marriage of Copts related to non-activation of state’s laws and constitution. Yet, the state gave up its role in protecting individuals and let the church take full control of the matter.
He assured that there are some persons get a marriage permit after a few months, while other cases stay years looking for a solution and get none. He added that family Courts refused to force divorce law on churches.
