President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met Saturday with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabuis to discuss bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concerns, said Presidential spokesperson Alaa Youssef in a statement.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Fabuis are scheduled to hold a press conference today afternoon following the meeting, which took place at the Ittihadeya presidential palace, according to Youssef.
Sisi and Fabius are scheduled to discuss a draft resolution that France intends to present to the United Nations Security Council to initiate peace talks.
Fabuis’ visit comes four days after Egypt’s Ministry of Defense signed a deal with French company Segma to deliver armament air-sol modular (AASM) Hammer air-to-ground missiles for the country’s air force.
On Feb. 16, Egypt signed a deal with French Dassault Aviation to buy 24 Rafale fighter jets that will participate in the 6 August inauguration of New Suez Canal.
