A total of 22 Egyptian prisoners, pardoned by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, arrived in the Cairo International Airport Saturday, Youm7 reported.
The pardoned inmates were released from the Airport after investigations revealed their criminal records in Egypt were clear, Cairo airport officials told Aswat Masrya Saturday.
Egyptian lawyer Ahmed al-Gizawi, jailed in Saudi Arabia since 2012, was not among the pardoned inmates. He is being retried by a Saudi court over possessing drugs. In January 2013, Gizawi was sentenced to five years in prison and 300 lashes over the said charges.
In January, Bin Abdulaziz has also pardoned 76 Egyptian prisoners on the occasion of assuming power; weeks after the death of his predecessor late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
