Parliament will not discuss amendments to controversial protest law
Egypt’s Speaker of the House of Representatives Ali Abdel-Aal announced in a T.V. interview that the controversial Protest Law is not on the table for discussion and the government did not carry out any amendments to it.
The protest law, issued November 2013, stipulates that protests can only take place with a police permit. Accordingly, hundreds of people, including activists and students, have been jailed over breaching the law. The controversial law was harshly slammed by politicians and rights groups, locally and internationally, accusing it of being used to punish activists and curb freedom of expression.

In same interview, Abdel-Aal said that the Parliament did not receive the documents of the controversial deal of maritime demarcation between Egypt and Saudi Arabia, per which Cairo has announced Saudi sovereignty on the two disputed islands of Tiran and Sanafir that locate in the Aqaba Gulf entrance in the Red Sea.
Cairo court to give ruling of case calls for social media closure in Egypt

U.S. delegation visits Egypt to discuss bilateral ties
