Egypt’s tackling of islands case ‘transparent, organized’ – FM
Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shokry said that he will not make remarks regarding the two Red Sea Islands transfer case as long as it is considered before the judiciary.
He added that “the state has dealt with the case with transparency,” and that the signing of the demarcation deal “was not conducted randomly, but in an organized way,” Youm7 quoted his statements during an Iftar gathering with editor-in-chiefs Sunday.
Egypt-Turkey relations “not positive,” UK’s Brexit ‘major event’ – FM
During a Sunday Iftar gathering, FM Sameh Shokry described UK’s Brexit as “major event” that will stir many reactions and economic effects, which would initially be a concern for stock markets in development countries, adding that he expects Britain to correct the situation.
Asked about Egypt’s relations with Turkey, Shokry said that he cannot describe it as “positive” as the latter has issued statements that are deemed “against the will of the Egyptian people,” in reference to Turkey’s criticism of judiciary rulings in espionage with Qatar case.
Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan finalize drafting consultative contract of Renaissance Dam – FM
Foreign Minister Sameh Shokry stated Sunday that Egypt, Ehtiopia and Sudan have finalized drafting a consultative contract of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
He added that the three countries are currently discussing to agree on a date to sign the contract with the firm that will carry out technical studies on the impact of the dam to Egypt.
MPs criticize Education Ministry’s cancellation of high school exams as “unfair, incorrect”
A number of Members of Parliament have voiced their criticism over what some described as “unfair” and “incorrect” decision to cancel some high school exams over question paper leaks online. MP Shukry el-Gendy criticized the decision that has created a state of tension among students and families.
Although she disagree with the decision, MP Mona Abdel Aty saw that the postponement of the exams were the only decision before the Education Ministry after a series of online leaks of the exams.
For MP Amr Mohamed, he thinks that the cancellation decision shows the ministry’s “failure” to deal with the problem.
Thanaweya Amma (high school diploma) students have staged a number of protests against Sunday’s decision to cancel Dynamics exam that was leaked by Facebook pages.
Egypt has to study effect of UK’s Brexit on investments, exports: politician
The head of Democratic Sadat Party, Effat el-Sadat stated that Egypt has to study the effects of UK’s Brexit on Egypt’s investments and exports amid the decline of the exchange rate of the Sterling pound.
Sadat said that Britain is one of the biggest foreign investor countries in Egypt, adding that Egypt has to be represented as a strong alternative for Gulf and foreign investments that are worried after the Brexit.
Egypt coordinates with Libya over “fast release” of detained nationals
The consulate department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following up closely on the situation of the detained Egyptian nationals in Libya, informing their families with updates and coordinating with Libya authorities to fasten their release, MENA quoted Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesperson for Foreign Ministry Sunday.
The Egyptians, who are originally from Upper Egypt’s Minya, have been arrested in a military zone near the Libyan man-made Lake on May 10.
Defense Minister meets with U.S. congressional delegation
Minister of Defense Sedky Sobhy met with a U.S. congressional delegation, headed by Dana Rohrabacher, a U.S. representative for a district in California. The meeting tackled talks regarding international efforts in fighting terrorism and bilateral cooperation between Egypt and the United States.

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa discussed Sunday ways of boosting bilateral relations. During their phone call, both leaders agreed to embark on implementing deals and MoUs that have been signed during the King’s last visit to Egypt.
Egypt’s Azhar condemns Buddhist raid at Myanmar Muslims
The Azhar Institute has condemned a last week raid by a group of Buddhist extremists at a Muslim village in central Myanmar, causing damages to a mosque and forcing dozens of Muslims to seek shelter in a police station.
The Egyptian prestigious Islamic body stated in a Saturday release that violence committed against Myanmar Muslims has caused the killing and displacement of tens of thousands of innocent people, and is considered a blatant violation to international agreements.
