Minya’s parliamentarians submitted a formal request to Speaker of Egypt’s parliament to form a fact-finding mission to investigate the sectarian incidents witnessed in the governorate's village, said MP Margraet Azer.
The Coptic parliamentarian, leading member of "Egypt’s Support" coalition, added that the parliamentarians will hold a meeting on Thursday with Tahna Al-Jabal’s residents in an attempt to ease the tensions there.
The village witnessed sectarian clashes Sunday between Muslims and Christians against the backdrop of a scrimmage between the son of the church’s priest and a number of young Muslims. The clashes led to the killing of one person and the injury of three others.
The increasing sectarian incidents witnessed in Minya require the speed completion of churches building law, said Azer to pave the way for undermining the attempts to raise sectarian tensions increasingly erupted during the recent period
