An Egyptian criminal court on Sunday ordered the release of political activist from the April 6 Youth Movement Zizo Abdo over charges of attempting to topple the regime, defence lawyer Mokhtar Mounir has said.
Known as Zizo Abdo, the researcher and writer Abdel-Azim Ahmed Fahmy was arrested in May over protests on 25 April against a controversial Saudi-Egyptian maritime demarcation deal that put two strategic Red Sea Islands into Saudi waters.
Dozens of youths were arrested over the demonstrations against the agreement, though many have since been released.
The deal was annulled in June by the country's Highest Administrative Court.
