Ambassador Moshira Khattab, Egypt’s nominee for the UNESCO Director-General post headed to Paris on Wednesday in an official visit where she is set to meet with a number of French officials, Youm7 reported.
The visit comes as part of Khattab’s European tour to gain support before the elections, which will take place early 2017, Ambassador Nihad Abdel Latif, the campaign’s manager told Youm7.
Over the past few weeks, Khattab visited several European countries and met with several ministers and senior officials from Member States of the Executive Council of UNESCO, who welcomed the nomination, said Abdel Latif.
In statements to the media in July, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry revealed that African countries have agreed to support Khattab in her bid to become the next UNSECO Director General when Irina Bokova’s term ends next year.
