A marine environment protection association in the Red Sea reported that officials of La Vista 6 resort in Ain Sokhna have filled a large part of the beach's seawater with sand and rocks to expand the beach.
Al-Masry Al-Youm received photos showing heavy-duty vehicles performing the operation.
Owners of hotel units in the resort reported the incident to the Environment Ministry, saying the area included coral reef and fish.
The director of the Red Sea Natural Reserves Ahmed Ghallab said the Environment Minister Khaled Fahmy has ordered a committee from the Suez Environment Affairs Department to head to the resort to investigate the incident. Also, the equipment used is to be confiscated.
