Coptic and Russian churches agreed to begin the exchange of educational missions between the two churches in order to support cooperation and rapprochement efforts between the Egyptian and the Russian people.
Pope Tawadros II had visited the Russian Church in October 2014 and agreed to form a committee on relations between the two churches in February 2016, headed by His Eminence Archbishop Hilarion of the Russian church and the Bishop Serapion, Bishop of Los Angeles for the Coptic Church.
