EgyptAir received on Wednesday the second of 15 Airbus A320neo planes scheduled to join the national carrier s fleet, it said in a statement
The 142-seat aircraft arrived at Cairo International Airport in the morning from Airbus s factory in Toulouse, France, the statement added.
The first of the Airbus A320Neo planes was received by Egypt earlier this week; the airplane made its first passenger flight this morning to Abu Dhabi.
The advanced and fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft family delivers per seat fuel improvements of 20%. The A320neo also offers significant eco-friendly performance with around 50% reduction in noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.
The civil aviation ministry had said the delivery makes EgyptAir the first company in the Middle East and Africa to operate both the Airbus A320Neo and Airbus A220 modern aircraft in its fleet .
EgyptAir has a fleet of 70 long, medium and short haul aircrafts, according to the company s website.
