Access Art Space will launch its second exhibition Sunday, 29 November, hosting a solo show by Egyptian artist Fathi Afifi.
Titled Phases , the exhibition will present the artist s newest paintings, inviting viewers to the new gallery that was founded within the premises of the former Townhouse Art Gallery.
Born in Cairo in 1950, Afifi is a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
"Afifi s paintings are characterised by roughness in touches and heterogeneous colours. He often prefers to work in black and white, with scratching on a black surface," reveals the notes to one of Afifi s previous exhibitions.
Opening its doors in September this year, Access Art Space is a relatively new player in the Cairo arts scene. Located in the former Townhouse Gallery premises, the new space is managed by the Townhouse team.
