Brotherhood's Mursi rules out presidential runoff vote delay

Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate Mohamed Mursi said at an impromptu press conference held on Saturday that he fully supported Egypt's revolutionaries, calling on the Egyptian people to continue pushing for political change.

Mursi ruled out the possibility that Egypt's presidential runoff vote – slated for 16 and 17 June – would be postponed due to recent circumstances, stressing that the vote must take place as Egypt's revolution remained ongoing.

Mursi reiterated that, should he win the presidential race, he would draw up a team of experts to gather evidence against those responsible for the killing of unarmed protesters at the height of last year's Tahrir Square uprising.

During the conference, Mursi also implied that his presidential rival, Ahmed Shafiq, had played a role in concealing evidence against the true culprits. He went on to allege that evidence in the case had been tampered with on 2 February of last year, when Shafiq was serving as Mubarak's last prime minister.
