Public prosecutor Abdel Meguid Mahmoud on Wednesday ordered former President Hosni Mubarak to stay in Tora Prison hospital.
Earlier this month, Mubarak’s son Gamal had filed a formal complaint against the hospital's conditions.
In response, Mahmoud sent a medical committee to Tora Prison to determine if the hospital’s equipment was adequate to treat his medical condition.
The committee found that Mubarak’s condition was stable and that the hospital was well equipped, and therefore determined that the former president should not be moved.
Mubarak is serving a 25-year prison sentence on charges that he played a role in the deaths of protesters involved in the demonstrations that lead to his ouster last year.
A delegation of the Supreme Council for Human Rights had visited Mubarak last week and said he had no demands, which also contributed to the committee’s decision to reject Gamal Mubarak’s request.
