Christmas always brings joy and happiness. However we've never imagined it may being such pain, We know that Christ Himself said: “Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. (John 16:20-21)
I remembered this verse upon reading an article by Bassant Moussa entitled: Report to God, which was published at Copts United. She sadly described the revolution of January 25 as a retardation, and Muslims' consolation after our massacres as social hypocrisy!
I understand the feelings of this Coptic young lady and that she can only see pain in Christmas as it's a time for us to be attacked. Most young people stop at the pain of the cross, not seeing the resurrection at hand. At the story of Christmas, blood of the children of Bethlehem was shed on the way of salvation. I remember the verse: without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (Hebrews 9:22) Blood is never priceless, therefore the martyrs of the two Saints church has made the revolution nearer.
Dear Bassant, Christianity doesn't believe in taking revenge, but rather salvation, as “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends”. As Chastens were sacrificing their lives, they have never imagined that Rome will be a Christian country one day.
O Rachel of Copts United, weep and mourn as much as you want, but you are bout to rejoice, and remember: No salvation without bloodshed, and no resurrection without a cross.
