Person arrested for sending children to Brotherhood's sit-in

The Egyptian authorities arrested a person on Sunday in relation to information they received stating that children were being collected from lower class areas in Cairo to be transferred to the Muslim Brotherhood's sit-in at Rabaa al-Adawiya.

The security forces took into custody two vehicles transporting 42 children, a media official at the interior ministry said in a statement.

The authorities arrested Ahmed Youssef Sadek, 31, and accused him of being the person in charge of bringing the children to the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in through seducing them by promises of news clothes.

Legal actions are being taken with regard to this incident as the prosecution started its investigations.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has expressed dismay at the “disturbing images of children taken during street protests, which indicate that, on some occasions, children have been deliberately used and put at risk as potential witnesses to or victims of violence.”

Last week, a group of children wearing their shrouds marched in Rabaa Square carrying banners stating that they are ready for "martyrdom".
