US Representative for California and co-chair of the Congressional Egypt Caucus Dana Rohrabacher visited Egypt last week, heading a US delegation that met with President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. The parties discussed Egypt-US relations after the election of US President Donald Trump. In an exclusive interview with Al-Ahram daily, Rohrabacher revealed the details of the congressional delegation's second visit to Egypt and its meeting with El-Sisi.

Tarek Kabil, Minister of Trade and Industry, announced on Thursday that 226 industrial projects have received approvals during the month of January, with total investments worth EGP 8bn, compared to 180 projects with total investments of EGP 3bn during the same period in 2016. A court rejected on Tuesday a case demanding that Noble Prize laureate Mohamed el-Baradei be stripped of the country's top decoration, Order of the Nile, saying it has no jurisdiction. Former president Hosni Mubarak awarded Baradei the order in 2006. The award is the highest degree of honor for Egyptians, and is awarded to people who have made a distinctive contribution to improve the lives of Egyptians. Egypt's parliament has voted in favour of a long-touted cabinet reshuffle, approving the appointment of nine new cabinet ministers, mainly in ministries related to public services and the economy. The reshuffle includes new ministers for the portfolios of agriculture, parliamentary affairs, local development, planning and ‎administrative reform, education, higher ‎education, and transport.‎‎

An anticipated cabinet reshuffle has been postponed to Tuesday due to a visit to Egypt by Lebanon's President Michel Aoun on Monday, parliamentary sources said. Sources affiliated with the pro-government parliamentary majority bloc "Support Egypt" told reporters that Prime Minister Sherif Ismail has informed parliament speaker Ali Abdel-Aal that the final list of the new cabinet ministers will be presented Monday so that parliament can take a vote on the new ministers Tuesday.

The US dollar exchange rate continued to decline in banks on Sunday; the lowest rate found in banks was LE17.65 to the dollar in the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).
