The birth of Christ was a reason for progress of all humankind and taught humans to move from pride to humility. Christ the God became man and was born poor to teach us humility.
His Eminence Bishop Takla in his article, The birth of Christ has elevated us from pride to humility. It is clear that Christ showed us humility as he was born poor and lived so. He is the creator of heaven and earth, but had no money to show us that greatness is not in wealth or clothing, but in humility and simplicity.
The Lord chose the Virgin because she was humble and told the angel: “I am the Lord s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” She also served Elisabeth for three months and tolerated all suffering until the cross without complaining.
John the Baptist was also humble and submissive. He said he is not the Christ, and is not worthy to remove the thongs of his shoes! God chose the humble people and made wonders through their weaknesses. May we learn from our Lord Jesus Christ and earn a humble soul, which is full of love.
