Army stops building St. Makarios monastery’s wall

Father Dawood, a monk at St. Makarios of Alexandria monastery told Copts United that some leaders of the armed forces in Fayoum visited the monastery yesterday, and ordered the monks to stop building the wall of the monastery after they built around 2.5 Kilometers of it. They claimed the land of the wall belongs to the Army.

David pointed out that the monastery started building the wall after a series of armed attacks by the Bedouins to steal the water well, as well as a number of thugs and bandits attacked the monastery, so they built it for protection.

He added that the monastery started building the wall based on a verbal approval from brigadier Hossam, deputy of Environment Minister during his visit to the monastery.
