Egyptian authorities at the Cairo International Airport banned Journalist Amr El-Leithy from travel to Dubai on Thursday, Youm7 reported.
They allowed his wife to leave to UAE without him as Leithy’s name was put on the list of travel ban per an order from the Prosecution.
Leithy, then , directed to the Office of the Attorney-General to get clarification on banning him from travel. However, he said that the prosecution as no information about barring him from travel.
Shorouk newspaper reported a judicial sources saying that Leithy was banned from travel over showing a video footage on his talk show on Al-Hayah channel for a “Tuk Tuk driver” who was complaining and ranting on the economic situation in the country. Controversial lawyer Samir Sabry has filed a lawsuit against Leithy over screening the video.
On Wednesday, Egyptian authorities also banned Director of El Nadeem Center for Rehabilitation of Victims of Violence Aida Seif Al-Dawla from traveling abroad while she was heading to Tunisia on Wednesday.
