Court commutes sentence 6 months in jail against columnist for ‘contempt of Religion’

 A Cairo Misdemeanor Court commented sentence of three years in jail to six months- without the execution of the penalty- against columnist and poet Fatma Naoot over charges with contempt the religion on Thursday, Youm7 reported.

 
He was charged with “insulting Islam” after she was accused of mocking Islamic rite of animal slaughtering on her Facebook page in 2014.
 
On her Facebook, Naoot described the ritual as “the biggest massacre;” she previoulsy told The Cairo Post “it is strange to be tried over Facebook posts.
