Abba Daniel, Bishop of Maadi, said that Pope Tawadros II held a meeting with members of the Standing Committee of the Holy Synod and a number of members of the Holy Synod 3 days before the visit of Pope Francis to Egypt.
The meeting aimed to discuss the joint statement with the Catholic Church where 18 bishops agreed to it and only one bishop refused it.
He added that Pope has traveled to Europe in a pastoral care visit that was previously scheduled.
