Many times did we, the Coptic Christians, face the same situation over and over again, while we only do the same actions and reactions to reap the same results! We do not learn from the past to improve our performance in the future.
Whenever we suffer from setback or attacks against the Copts, we get frightened. However, soon we calm down and get used to the new situation, and so on.
How do we get out of this vicious circle? These are some suggestions:
First, let us discover our reality; to each his own advantages and disadvantages. We have to know the limits of our abilities to make the best out of our cards in the game.
We shouldn’t blame the others or the circumstances too much. We should know that insulting America or calling it the biggest Satan won’t help solving our problems, as American policy is always serving its interests like protecting Israel, making sure that Gulf is pumping its oil to the West continually, as well as supporting human rights.
Therefore, Copts of America who represent about 0.5 percent of the American people can’t simply change its policy. They only can demand an explanation for the American situations and actions.
America is committed to protecting the minorities and the American administration say they can do such job easier if they have good relations with the regime, some people don’t like this way, yet they have to deal with it.
Second, let's start with small steps that can be implemented. Do something and succeed, then people will trust in you, follow you, offer you their money.
Third, remember you positives as well as your negatives. We have many defects, but we have some achievements as well. For instance, we could demand our rights in our demonstrations in the streets and squares. Copts are the ones who brought the Coptic issue from local level to the international one paying a lot of money and effort.
Stop crying dear brothers and sisters as there is no use crying of spelt milk. We have to calm down to study our options and set a plan, then work and continue working as this is the secret behind any success.
