In all attacks against the Coptic Christians in Egypt, police usually arrest the victims and leave the terrorists free. This has been happening since Koshh attack in December 31, 1999, in which 20 Copts were killed under the auspices of of police and none has been sentenced yet. This encouraged those bastards to carry out more terrorist attacks against the Christians.
In his very first speeches after taking office, Ibrahim Mehleb, Egypt’s Prime Minister, repeated the speech given on July 11 by former Prime Minister Beblawy who promised then to fight terrorism, take care of security, and development projects. Both of them talked generally about crises in Egypt, but the only difference is that Mehleb decided to stop buying mineral water in governmental offices. General speeches doesn’t reveal a plan if existed. Furthermore, they decided to come up with a strange ministry with vague goals and nurture called Ministry of Transitional Justice!
Washington has been using human rights against its opponents since the very first Human Rights report published in 1949. The same technique was used against the Soviet Union as well as Mubarak. Another report was published this year to denounce human rights' violations during the dispersal of Rabaa Adawia and Nahda sit-in and after that.
Does Pope Tawadros know that martyrdom in Christianity is a Golden Bridge or short cut to eternal life? Recently, 7 Coptic Christians have been killed execution style by Ansar al- Sharia group in Libya. Thus, they have indeed won crowns of martyrdom and got higher rank in heaven than the saints and all members of the Holy Synod.
I usually dedicate my weekly articles to discuss or express my views in pure Egyptian problems, today I write a view on a world crisis that might affect Egypt in the near or far future, but at the moment might look as a non Egyptian crisis but involves powers that will effect Egypt; but first let me have a brief review on October 1962 worldwide events!
Right from the beginning we have witnessed a man who is blunt, brave, and to the point. I remember where I was when Sisi made his notorious announcement that ultimately led to the ousting of Morsi, do you?
As we wait for any sign of hope that helps us restore our confidence in the government, we can’t find but negligence and underestimation for all Egyptian blood shed for no good reason, especially the Copts. They are killed for no reason but their Christian faith. Recently, 7 Coptic Christians have been brutally killed in Libya after killers made sure they are Christians. However, Egyptian officials, as usual, were ready to make excuses for the killers claiming the attackers are no racist!
A Coptic Christian friend told me that he used to work in the Eastern Province of the Saudi Arabia. He said that many times did he have to hide his faith in order to live in peace, especially when his colleagues started taking pride of their faith and curse the Jews and Christians. He had to fast during the holy month of Ramadan and ignore many insults to his faith. Furthermore, once he had to pray in a mosque with people cursing Christians and their faith in their prayers! In fact, he was lucky that his name didn’t reveal his real identity, or else he would have suffered even more.
Among waves of conflicts and disputes, the Holy Synod, headed by H.H. Pope Tawadros II, has issued the new Pope election regulation. Then, it was sent to the Presidency for approval. Some people may ask: Why did the Holy Synod have such conflict and disputes among the bishops? Simply because some of them prefer the old regulation with slight changes in terms of expanding the voters list. This team refuses to correct the situation in accordance with the patristic tradition and the laws of the church.
I wonder how come we as well as many countries have double standards that we judge and see what happened in Egypt in 2011 a revolution and at the same time consider what happened in 2013 as military coup. Same thing happened with the revolution in ukraine when the parliament removed the president responding to the demands of only 30.000 protestors rather than millions in the egyptian streets and squares.
I was planning to talk about arts in our life but as events develop and we had a big tragedy this week I need to express my regrets and condolences for the people that died either out of negligence or miscalculations or unexpected circumstances victims or plotters or just humans that lost their lives so rest in peace.
When I see the situation of the Christians in the Middle East, I can’t prevent myself from blaming the United States. Since the US decided to go to war against Iraq and then leave it to Al-Qaida, this led to the evacuation of the Christians and not only that, but also killing them as the first step to eradicate Christianity from the middle east.
God created man and woman in His own image. “In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them” (Gen 1:27). She was taken from man’s side and was made equal to him. “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Dr. Hassan Nafaa, professor of political science at Cairo University, said he intended to save the country through an initiative of reconciliation with the Muslim Brotherhood. How come he believes that the terrorist group with the bloody history and has never committed to its vows would be honest or patriot this time. He said that certain names in the Committee of Wise Men who belong to the currents of political Islam or El Baradei caused such great dispute over his proposal. Additionally, he called to appoint a neutral mediator who should be accepted by different political currents.
Egypt is expecting the presidential elections that should be competitive and present equal opportunities to each candidate concerning the public television and newspapers. This is the basics of democracy and justice advocated by the revolution of June 30, 2012. In fact, the Egyptian people decided to revolt against the powers of tyranny overthrowing two regimes in just three years. Therefore, the next president, whoever he is, should take heed that the people alone are the source of authorities.
However Hamdeen Sabahi is a patriot man who played an important role in overthrowing the regime of the Muslim Brotherhood, he can’t be the upcoming president of Egypt. Such office is in bad need for a skillful politician, no less than a former minister or governor. Yet, Sabahi was no more than a member of the parliament. I see Sabahi as a governor of Sinai under the upcoming president Abdul Fatah al-Sisi.
Some new online friend sent me a question wondering Is someone living in Europe cares to come back or visit Egypt? The question took me back to year 1988, November when I left Egypt with the intention to stay away of Egypt, it was not my 1st ever trip abroad I had previously visited Greece, and France in fact I had several trips in and out of France, my late father –R.I.P.- when he advised me to go to France but helped me buying for me the ticket his intention was to stay there for good, I rejected the idea and to convince me he promised to join me there as soon as he settles some other matters like his finances and house and the part of the house he inherited from his late father –R.I.P.- and talks and promises he never intended to keep! And that is why I kept coming back until ….
In the coming days we will have Elena Dzamashvili perform at the Cairo Opera House. It is often said that music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent. Troubled children are often placed into music programs to give them an outlet they can focus on and relieve their stress. Violinists are said to live shorter lives than anyone else because of the connection their heart makes to the music they produce. What is it about music that makes people calm, and brings peace to a situation?
I would not stop warning against the conspiracies against Egypt, especially after the revolution of June 30. Such conspiracies are mainly supported by media, which targets our minds. They mainly aim at destroying Egypt and its institutions including army, police and judiciary. They also use inexperienced or dishonest young people to spread depression and despair among the people.
In order to understand why Rebel movement was divided over which candidate to support for presidency, especially after Hamdin Sabahi decided to run for president, we have to think about the beginning of the movement. It started aiming to eliminate the dictatorship of the Muslim Brotherhood and overthrow former president Mohamed Morsy. It was such a huge threat that required all people to unite.
Supporters of Sheikh Qaradawi should be shocked when they know about his history, which dates back to the fifties. His relations with security services started during the confrontation between the Muslim Brotherhood and the regime of Nasser. He was recruited by the intelligence under General Salah Nasr when Qaradawi was imprisoned. Then, he was released to undergo a training course on spying skills. Later, he put on the uniform of Al-Azhar to make his spying job easier.
